Fitting with Freddy - The World Famous Fit Specialist

It was an honour and a pleasure to host a two day event with Eveden.

Founded in 2001, Eveden provides some of the largest names in the bra industry including Elomi, Goddess, Freya and Fantasie.

Striving for substantial quality and femininity, these brands are well known and sought after in the world of bra fitting. 

So is Freddy. Frederika (Freddy) Zappe is Eveden’s National Fit Specialist. Freddy travels worldwide, training, educating and inspiring people from all walks of life. We can’t help but be star struck in her presence! Last Thursday, September 13, 2018 was the first day we’ve closed up shop for a dedicated day of staff training! It was 4 hours of education, laughter, and inspiration with Freddy, Paula (our Regional Representative), Heather (Canadian Sales Representative), and Laurel (Senior Vice President of Sales). Talk about a bunch of boss babes, am I right?

Freddy’s many years of experience in the bra industry has provided us with a deeper understanding of why we do what we do at FYL. From teachings to fitting tips, professionalism and simply making women feel incredible, we were all hooked in by every word she said.

Freddy also brought her famous “barley boobs” (pink bags filled with 8 pounds of barley that you hang around your neck to demonstrate the weight of average size 38F breasts) Sounds pretty sexy right? Totally not meant to be sexy, but rather to drive home how crucial it is to wear a supportive bra, especially if you have larger breasts. Freddy’s favorite ploy is to get a man to put them on, and there’s only one man here at FYL…Brian, co-owner and Sonya’s husband!

He was the best sport and will always “take one for the team”…and the FYL team wildly demonstrated with their applause & hoots that they wanted him to be our boob model!

I’ve always known that the bra band should sit completely parallel to the floor, but Freddy was able to eloquently illustrate and explain why. The strongest part of the back is the mid back, which is exactly where that band should sit. If the band is too high (or less commonly too low) we’re adding weight and pressure to a part of our body that is less capable to carry the weight. Interesting, right?

Following the boob talk, we had a chance to have some ‘real-talk’. Freddy has always ensured that there is time to get feedback from us on products from Eveden. It provides a safe space for us to offer brutally honest opinions on what we love and hate about the products, as well as what our customers want to see in upcoming seasons, knowing that something will be done with it. She listens intently with the purpose of offering solutions and change. Freddy is the woman to get things done.

Then it was time for some hands on training! A number of the staff were so excited to try Eveden products, even next seasons samples, eek! This allowed us to show Freddy and the others not only Eveden products on multiple bodies, but other brands as well. With an open mind and eagerness to learn, the Eveden team embraced this as an opportunity to learn more about brands and products other than their own.

In the evening, Freddy provided a talk to a group of guests that signed up for an evening with Freddy. She was able to provide the knowledge and inspiration about bras and fittings that we were fortunate to receive earlier in the day, as well as some really heartfelt talk about confidence, feeling like we are ‘not good enough’, and how we start overcoming that… There were tears and some big revelations by some of the women attending!

With appies, bubbly, swag and giveaways, it made for a fun and exciting evening! We will be looking to have Freddy back annually for an information evening. The Bra Industry is overwhelming, confusing and often dreaded by many people with a bust. Freddy has the ability to take the unknown and the intimidating and turn it into something fun and relatable. I strongly suggest signing up for tickets when she’s here next, as you’ll walk in confused, and walk out inspired. How many people do you know that can do that for you? Freddy changes lives. I strongly suggest you take the opportunity for her to change yours.
